I recently moved to Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast and am excited to start exploring a whole new part of the Coast Mountains via the inlets in this area. From Jervis to Toba and Bute, there is a lot of new mountain terrain to explore. First on my hit list is the Tahumming Traverse at the head of Toba Inlet. I enjoy a variety of outdoor pursuits, including backpacking, backcountry skiing, river & ocean kayaking, ice & rock climbing, and mountaineering. From the Rockies to the Great Bear Rainforest and Coast Range, BC has so many wilderness adventures that I have many lifetimes of trips on my bucket list.

For almost 35 years, I have been exploring the Stein River Valley. My love affair with this remarkable wilderness area began in the early 1980s when I was working in the Lytton area for BC Parks. I have now spent over 400 days in the Stein and I keep on returning; there are still areas that are on my hit list plus several trips that I must repeat, such as the south divide ski traverse. Few places can match this area’s ecological and cultural richness. And, its spiritual values are undeniable.
